Ok, I'm not going to lie; but this may be my most favorite conference ever! Not only are there an incredible number of classes to take, but there are photo shoots everywhere! All day and all night!
For those who may not know, Shutterfest is 3 days of hands-on photography classes, expo and parties. It is the least structured conference ever and I love it! You can attend classes or just photograph models the entire time. "Shoot. Learn. Party." is their motto. And they are not kidding! It is so much fun!
Percy Stumbletoe, let's talk about it! Ok, I registered at the last minute (about two weeks prior to the conference). Since I was a late registrant, they didn't have my name badge printed out for me. They special order the name badges. This year's badge was an acrylic luggage tag from Acrylic Press. Excellent quality and comes in very handy for traveling. Had I registered early enough, it might have had my actual name on it. But being Percy Stumbletoe was just as good!
There were two parties at this conference, a Welcome and a Farewell. Each one themed for photographers to dress up in fun costumes and have a good time. The first party was "Your Favorite Covid-Binge Tv Show". Pretty much whatever show you loved binge-watching during the 2020 lockdown. I dressed as David from Schitt's Creek. And truth to be told, I was not the only David at the party! In fact, an entire Schitt's Creek family was there! There were so many great costumes from people's favorite shows.
The classes that I did attend were amazing! Both were on lighting & posing techniques. Since this was only my first year, I spent most of the conference getting a feel for it. I loved the shooting bays that were provided by Westcott (photo & video lighting equipment company) and all the after-hours shoots! I got to meet and photograph some lovely models. Next year, I plan to meet & photograph so many more!
Here's some behind the scenes photos from the conference and a few formal portraits of some models! Enjoy!
I loved meeting these models and photographing them. There's still so much to be said on how amazing this conference is. I absolutely loved it and I'm already looking forward to the next one! It's for any and all photographers of all levels! Everyone is so nice and welcoming!
